Standing Frame

A Standing frame consists of a board with an adjustable tray and knee stabilizers. It could be fitted with bilateral AFO's. Advantages to a child in a standing frame are improvement of coordination of the upper extremities and enhancement of cardiorespiratory function.

Parapodium/swivel walker

Parapodium is a prefabricated standing frame worn over the clothes. It enables a young client to stand without the assistance of crutches. It consists of footplate with heel cup, aluminum uprights, a foam knee block, and back and chest panels. Hip and knee joints lock and unlock, allowing the patient to sit as well as stand. The parapodium has proven to be a useful device for allowing the child client to become independently mobile. It is believed that in a Swivel Walker the client is able to experience the treatment benefits of upright stance and ambulating, which includes improved kidney and bowel function and in some cases strengthening the individual's load bearing skeletal structure.
